Hopewell Baseball is committed to providing advanced baseball opportunities within the Recreation program. We have created different offerings by age group to meet the deveopmental needs of that group.

The 9U-11U programs are designed for players looking to play advanced level baseball, but not wanting to participate in an all year Travel program, or who are looking to push their skill-set to play at that level.

12U and 10U

We have joined with Ocee Park, Wills Park and Roswell Youth Baseball to participate in the North Fulton Select League (NFSL). These teams are made up of 10 and 12 year old groups who participate in the NFSL during the Spring season. Tryouts are usually done mid-Dec to early Jan with practices beginning in mid January. We typically play between 20-25 games starting in mid to late February and finishing with the playoffs by mid-May. Teams on average meet 3 to 4 times per week for games and practices. All players who are not selected are automatically enrolled in the Spring Recreational program. Hopewell will field 1 select team in 12U and 1 or more select teams in 10U based on registration numbers.  This program will continue with Summer All-Star selections at the end of the recreation season and Fall Select play for players that wish to have an advanced baseball element to their Fall season.

11U and 9U

At these ages we have a Rec-Select program. This means all players will play on a recreation team and also on a Select team. The Select team will practice once a week on Sundays and participate in advanced league games on a weekday seperate from Recreation league games. We piloted this program Spring 2018 with tremendous success. Tryouts for these teams will be part of the recreation assessments, or a seperately scheduled tryout in mid-Jan. Tryout schedules will be based on weather and other scheduling conflicts. This provides the opportunity for all Select players to develop at primary positions and pitching within the rec league during their transitional year, while also getting advanced experience in the Select league practices and games. This program will continue with Summer All-Star selection and Fall Select play.

Depending on the number of players interested, availabiltiy of coaches and depth of the program, 1 or 2 teams may be fielded. The top 11 players from the assessment will be placed on the first team and the next 11 players will be placed on the second team. The goal is to release teams within one week of recreation assessments.

8U-6U

At these ages we have a Rec-Select program that is primarily focused on advanced practices. This means all players will play on a recreation team and also on a Select team, but will only play a few games with that team. The Select team will practice once a week on Sundays and participate in 2-4 games against recreation teams from the age group above them (i.e 6U Select plays against 7U Rec Teams). Tryouts for these teams will be part of the recreation assessments, or a seperately scheduled tryout in mid-Jan. Tryout schedules will be based on weather and other  This program will conclude after Summer All-Star selection.

Depending on the number of players interested, availabiltiy of coaches and depth of the program, 1 or 2 teams may be fielded. The top 12 players from the assessment will be placed on the first team and the next 12 players will be placed on the second team. The goal is to release teams within one week of recreation assessments.

5U

Clinic style program on Sundays open to all 5 year olds in the recreation program who sign-up to participate.

NOTE: Advanced recreation programming is relatively new at Hopewell. We expect to consistently grow and adjust this offering until we find the best possible approach for Hopewell families in all age groups.
